Hair Acting (Soap Opera Digest 5/1/07)

While Forbes March's shoulder-length 'do goes with Nash's rugged charm, the actor reveals that it's actually a long-standing point of contention on set. "When I was really poor, I wouldn't cut my hair. I'd wait until I had a job 'cause I could always get my hair cut for free," laughs March. But when he initially asked the show to chop off his mop top, he was told the character should have long hair. Recently, those long locks became "unmanageable," so the actor took matters into his own hands. "I wrote up this petition [that I should get a haircut] and had the entire cast and crew sign it.... I handed it in to [Frank Valentini, executive producer], and he got really pissy at first, and then he felt bad because he got pissy, so he said I could!" They later agreed that Nash should have long hair "because you should always be aware of the fact that Nash just doesn't quite fit in," March explains.
