The Final Frontier (SID 9/12/06)

Before becoming one of Llanview's resident hunks, Forbes March (Nash) was a regular on the science-fiction drama, Mutant X. And as a result, March got to experience the always-interesting world of sci-fi conventions. "They were pretty cool," he points out. "And sci-fi is always kind of mocking itself at the same time that it's doing it; it's always a little tongue-in-cheek." The actor does point out, though, that what passes for science fiction these days wouldn't nessecarily make the grade in the past. "Sci-fi nowadays is much more fi than sci," he quips. "It's not like the old Star Trek series that was written by engineers, physicists and philosophers. I used to watch it with my dad -- who's a philosopher with an engineering background -- and at the end of every episode we'd debate it for three hours afterwards." So, how did Mutant X do in the "sci" category itself? "You know," he laughs, "it was a lot of fun, but it wasn't a lot of science."
