Timeless Beauty
"So many times, we're working late and there's an event to go to after work
and we have to be there in five minutes," says Bree Williamson (Jessica,
One Life to Live). "Of course, those are the times when people say you look
beautiful!" It actually does make sense, the actress maintains. "When you
have a long time to get ready, you overpluck an eyebrow, put on too much
makeup or re-curl your hair even though it looked fine the first time," she
explains. "You don't just want to be sitting there in your dress so you're
fussy." Maybe that's why, even with an entire day to get ready, Williamson
usually finds herself time-crunched. "I'm such a procrastinator!" she confesses.
"I go have a long breakfast, and get coffee, and then suddenly, I only have
about 20 minutes to get ready. It's like unconscious sabotage."
Living Doll
The first year Williamson presented at the Daytime Emmys, she was very nervous.
The second year was funa nd this year, she says, was "really fun. I did feel
pressure to go with a gowny kind of dress but instead I just went with a
short little frock that was all about having a look with hair, makeup and
accessories."
The dress is DKNY, very pink, cocktail length with an empire waist, spaghetti
straps and purple trim around a flared skirt. Williamson wore it with purple
Prada platform shoes, an updo, and some "girly, cutesy" jewelry. "BethAnn
Bonner [Talia, OLTL] bought me this really gorgeous costume pink diamond
ring and it's so perfect because it's very princessy," she describes. "On
the other hand, I had a horseshoe ring and I got BethAnn a matching one,
because she was my date. The whole look is almost like a doll thing, very
young, very cute, pink and girly."
Playing It Safe
"My mom helped me pick out the dress because she was in town," Williamson
shares. "I wasn't really looking for an Emmy dress but I saw it and thought,
'That could work, that could be a whole look.'" Though Williamson says she
trusts her own judgement most of the time, it never helps to have an extra
opinion or two for the Emmys. "You never know what magazines are going to
say about what you're wearing," she concedes. "You could pick something you
think is fabulous and then everybody gives it a thumbs down. You have to
feel it, because nine times out of ten, you can tell an outfit is wearing
the woman and not the other way around."
