One Lie To Live (New York Vue 4/15/07)
by Carolyn Hinsey
This week on "One Life to Live" Jessica finally agrees to tell her
husband, Antonio, that she loves Nash.
"The catalyst was Jamie's adoption hearing," says Bree Williamson (Jessica).
"Getting divorced from Antonio is one thing. But to get divorced after she's
adopted his baby and brought a child into this messy situation is something
she just doesn't want to do."
Viewers know that Jess ran out of the adoption hearing without explaining
the reason to Antonio or his little daughter, Jamie.
"This is not one of those love triangles where, because it was successful,
they've played the same scene over and over. Nash and Jessica have the same
fight like five times, but they need to do that because she is denying her
feelings and he is trying to point that out to her. It works."
After Jessica admits that she does love Nash, she tells him that she must
be the one to tell Antonio.
Then, Jessica tries to do that, but Antonio yells at her for hurting Jamie
and storms out.
"All of the roadblocks that make Jessica unable to tell Antonio what's going
on are very clever," says Williamson, adding that the real trouble starts
when Nash visits Jessica to find out how it went.
"Nash and Jessica are talking and they start kissing. Jamie walks in and
sees them," shudders Williamson. "Nash leaves and Jessica has a conversation
with Jamie about how that must have been confusing. She tries to explain
it to her. Enter Antonio. Jessica and Antonio start having a big fight. Jamie
is looking out into the living room to Jessica and Antonio fighting, and
she gets upset. She runs out of the house and into the street."
What happens next may keep Jessica from telling Antonio the truth for a long
time.
"It's really good storytelling, and the stuff that's coming up is even cooler,"
says the actress.
Jessica feels terrible about the turn of events, but her true love isn't
as generous.
"Nash is not as noble as Antonio is," says Williamson. "He's a bit more selfish.
He's a different kind of character than any other guy on the show. He's like,
'Yeah, I understand.' But not really!"
