Miss: OLTL's Tired Triangle (Soap Opera Weekly 3/27/07)

Attention, One Life to Live's Antonio, Jessica and Nash: Get a room! Two of you, anyway.

The premise of this triangle (originally a quadrangle) was clever...at first. Antonio loved Jessica, and Nash loved Jessica's alter, Tess. The fact that Nash fathered a child with Tess but the baby was going to be raised by Antonio and Jessica really muddied the waters in a unique way. Even after Jessica's personalities were successfully integrated, things remained tense because although the Tess persona was essentially gone, "her" body was still there.

But then everything interesting about it developed into a confusing muddle. Nash shifted his affections from Tess to Jessica (well, like we said, she has the same body). Jessica continued to insist ad nauseam that she loves Antonio -- while striking sparks with Nash. Consider the laughably incendiary situation at Capricorn. As Antonio's storage room burned, Jessica and Nash began to make love instead of trying to escape. Clearly, good sense slipped their minds as quickly as they doffed their clothes.

And where as the real Antonio gone? This triangle has dulled the once-sharp, hot-tempered detective into an idiot. How can he wheedle the truth out of criminals when he cannot detect that his wife and best friend are lying to him? Constantly?

Our B.S. detector is going crazy, so it's time for this burned-out triangle to lose a prong. Seriously -- we'll take Antonio and Nash at this point. --JD
