(In this article, Soap Opera Weekly columnist Mimi Torchin profiled some of her favorite "diseases" currently playing out on daytime dramas. Jessica's DID makes the list -- along with the pneumonia contracted by ATWT's Jennifer; DAYS' Jack's mystery illness; Reva's breast cancer on GL; Sonny's manic depression on GH; Nora's neurological damage on OLTL and Victor's brain damage on Y&R. What follows are her comments about the DID storyline.)

Actually, the hotbed of sickness is really Llanview, not Oakdale. Though with the exception of Paige's injuries from a car accident, most of the illnesses are mental in nature. I am totally engaged by the ongoing saga of Jessica's DID, which features an attractive alter, Tess, who has her own life and love, Nash. The fact that Jess had a baby she conceived with nash when she was Tess is a brilliant complication. We care about both personalities, and credit goes to Bree Williamson, who has done such a wonderful job with this complex and emotional storyline.
