Songs From the Heart (Soaps In Depth 1/17/06)
It all started when Forbes March (Nash) and his 6-year-old daughter,
Marina, were in Central Park, and the little girl wondered about a group
of people she saw gathered. "They were standing around the [John] Lennon
memorial," March relates. To explain the significance, the actor purchased
a Beatles compilation, which brought back childhood memories. "My mom used
to sing me 'Blackbird,' and I sang my daughter 'Hey Jude' when she was still
in diapers." That particular tune caused an interesting reaction in his daughter.
March says Marina blushed a deep red when it played, though she said she'd
never heard it before. "The mind of a child is a funny thing," he says, adding
that his mom's singing caused a strong reaction in him, too. "I have no idea
why, I just feel really comforted and sad at the same whenever I hear it.
I miss my mother's singing -- somehow, I'm going to have to trick her into
singing it again next time I see her."
